William Julius “Sonny” Miles II

Sonny entered Heaven on August 26, 2026, at Martha Jo Leslie MS Veterans State Home in Kosciusko, MS.

Sonny was born January 7, 1944 to the late William Julius Miles and Vaudie Lee Albritton. He is survived by his son Kevin P. Miles, daughter Leslie Daigle and her son Elliott, and sister Susan Hunter.

Sonny served in our United States Army. He was proud to be an American and thankful to serve his country.

Sonny enjoyed cooking and serving others his delicious recipes! His Cajun flare was his signature. Elm Lake was his second home. Sonny was an avid golfer. Until recently he played with the Weyerhaeuser Group. In his prime, he ran Sonny’s Grill, held the role as golf marshal, and worked in the pro shop with many staff throughout the years.

Over the years and especially the last several months, he was deeply cared for by the staff of Dr. Ana Bonetti with Pulmonology, Dr. Alnas with Hematology and Oncology, all the nurses in Chemotherapy, as well as the caseworkers and nurses on the 3rd floor in Baptist Patient Tower. And lastly, all the VA staff who helped him over the years to give him access to his care.

Most importantly, Sonny was a Believer of Jesus Christ. He was a member of East End Baptist Church. After joining East End his health decline and his desire for baptism was postponed to a couple of Sundays ago. The Lord gave Sonny an extra measure of health on Sunday August 16, 2026 for a hospital baptism. Surrounded by his pastor, and pastor’s wife and his Columbus family, Sonny was baptized and spoke clearly of his gratitude for His Savior Jesus Christ.

Family and Friends are welcome to gather at East End Baptist Church on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 4:30PM to celebrate his life.

Highlighted from his Bible he leaves us with Psalm 16:1-2, “Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from You.”
