SHIRLEY MASON - Shirley Curtis Mason, age 82, of Steens, MS, passed away August 10, 2026, at her residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Noah Chism officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Steens, MS. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Mason was born April 28, 1944, in Lowndes County, MS, to the late Wilson and Ozell Wakefield Smith. She was a graduate of Caledonia High School and worked many years in the medical profession. She was a receptionist for Dr. John N. Harrington and was a medical billing specialist for most of her career having retired in 2002. Mrs. Mason also worked in billing and administration for Curtis Sand & Gravel and was a member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with family at home and providing great meals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Curtis and William Mason, and sister, Lois Honnoll.

Survivors include her daughters, Missy Dodson (Mike) of Caledonia, MS, and Pam Oswalt (Scott) of Steens, MS, brother, Wayne Smith of Long Beach, MS, sister, Joyce Williams of TX, grandchildren, Taylor Dodson Brown (Tyler) of Caledonia, MS, John Curtis Dodson (Emilee) of Caledonia, MS, and Ethan Oswalt of Columbus, MS, and great grandchild, Whitley Michael Brown.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Oswalt, John Curtis Dodson, Tyler Brown, Steve Honnoll, Steve Westbrook, and Keith Westbrook. Paul Clardy will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS, 39213, or the Alzheimer's Associatioin Mississippi Chapter, 207 West Jackson St., Suite F, Ridgeland, MS, 39157.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Nelda McConaha, Sheryl Scott, Marianne Lowry, staff & nurses of Legacy Hospice, Amy Betts Williams, Kimba Williams, Dr. Jaihuai Tan, Dr. Stephen Wilkerson, and Dr. Lucas McElwain, for their love and support.
