Shelby Flye

SHELBY FLYE - Shelby Taylor Flye, age 79, of Steens, MS, passed away April 16, 2026, at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Mordecai officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.

Mrs. Flye was born December 9, 1946, in Fayette, AL, to the late Grady and Dorothy Thomas Taylor. She was a graduate of Fayette High School and Valdosta Community College. Mrs. Flye worked as an interior decorator for twenty years and also worked at Weyerhaeuser for a number of years. She enjoyed camping, crafts, cooking, and spending time with family and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Wayne Flye, son, James Michael Lyons, grandson, Garret Hocutt, brother, Buddy Taylor, and sister, Shirley Wheeler.

Survivors include her son, Chris Hocutt of Centreville, VA, daughter, Patti McKee of New Brockton, AL, sister, Elvie Guin of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Christy Ann Pennington, Amanda Cortes, Byron Hocutt, Noelle Hocutt, Jacob Sellers, McKenzie Tramel, and Madison Tramel, and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Jeff Wilson, Colin Wilson, Garrett Wilson, Danny Flye, and Stan Wheeler.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
