Robert Lee Brock, 81, of Caledonia, Mississippi, entered the gates of Heaven September 19th, 2025. He was born on December 15th, 1943, in Caledonia to the late Lora Weaver Brock and O.C. Brock.
Robert was a man of many talents and a hard worker all his life. He was the first in his family to graduate from college, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education from Mississippi State University. For 27 years, he served the Lowndes County School System as a teacher and bus driver, touching the lives of countless children. Many still remember the cowboy who taught their lessons, drove their school bus, and sometimes kept them in line. He also spent 15 years on the road as a truck driver, but his true heart was always in being a cowboy and farmer. A proud Golden Palm Eagle Scout, Robert carried the values of service, leadership, and integrity throughout his life, later sharing his time and wisdom as a Boy Scout troop leader, shaping the lives of many young people in his community. He was also proud to have been the coach who led the Mel-Ott Youth Baseball Team to a championship in 1981 and 1982—a memory cherished by many of the young players whose lives he influenced on and off the field.
The greatest joy in Robert’s life was his family. He was devoted to his wife and best friend, Kitty Nickles Brock, whom he loved deeply for 58 years. Together they raised two children, Robert Scott Brock (Marty) and Lora Brock Virts (Chuck), and built a legacy of love and faith that will carry on through their grandchildren. To his four grandchildren—Kathryn Brock Glenn (Robert), Anna Elizabeth Brock, Robert Nicholas Brock, and Ashley Jane Virts—he was the world’s greatest Papaw, always present with love, wisdom, and encouragement.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Virginia Brock Andrews; his nieces, Heather Lynn Harbour and Rebekah Erin Brock; and his favorite horse, “Gent.”
The Brock family will miss their favorite cowboy more than words can say but find peace in knowing he is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Rowan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tyler Brock, Quint Brock, Michael Brock, Todd Andrews, Robert Nicholas Brock, Jacob Lowery, and Scott Woodruff. Honorary pallbearers will be Vance Shelley, Avery Duncan, and John Wiggins.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Baptist Hospice nurses and staff, and sitters Shanita Peoples, Audrey Keaton, Nikki Stowers, and Annette Webber for their kindness, compassion, and care in keeping Robert comfortable and content during his final days.
