Rex Howell Gilliam, age 61, of Columbus, MS, passed away April 30, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Gilliam was born May 21, 1963, in Columbus, MS, to the late Emmett and Louise Rector Gilliam. He was a graduate of New Hope High School and received his associates degree from East Mississippi Community College. Mr. Gilliam worked for a number of years for Seminole Manufacturing and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church and enjoyed coon hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Alton Page, and nephew, Nathan Page.
Survivors include his sister, Jean Page of Columbus, MS, nephews, Christopher Page and his wife Magen of Columbus, MS, James Page and his wife Amy of Tupelo, MS, John Page and his wife Vayronda of AR, and Ian Malone of Columbus, MS, and niece, Vickie Alford and her husband Richie of TX, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian Allbritton, Jay Harris, Randy Deason, Randy Basson, Jeff Seymer, Larry Braddock, Ricky Eaves, and Harold Browning.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Rhodes, Bo Harris, John Hall, Jason Hall, Bill Cole, Ronnie Chain, Johnny Swink, Jamie Tilley, and Wade Pardue.
Memorials may be made to Blair Batson Children's Hospital, 2500 N. States St., Jackson, MS, 39216.
