Edward Ray Fleming

On July 31st, 2025 Edward Ray Fleming awakened and had breakfast at his home with his beloved wife Joan and welcomed the new day. Thereafter, he went to rest, slipped his earthly bonds, and went to meet his Heavenly Father.

Ray was born on June 27, 1937, in Crandall, Mississippi to Lonnie Jackson and Mona Eva Fleming. He was blessed to have five brothers and two sisters. He has two sons Eddie Wayne Fleming and Michael Scott Fleming. He married Joan Dennis Fleming in 1987 and happily took on her four daughters as his own.

In his early years Ray joined the United States Marine Corps. Thereafter, Ray spent most of his adult life driving a tractor trailer across this great country. He was a simple and kind man and he loved his God, his Family, his Church family, his friends, gardening and sitting on his porch with the various dogs and cats that were his over the years.

His is preceded in death by his Mother and Father and his Son Eddie Wayne Fleming and his Sister Joyce Rigdon and his Brothers James Robert Fleming, Lester Fleming, Owen Fleming and Leon Fleming. He is survived by his Wife Joan Fleming and his Son Michael Scott Fleming. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Mariann Dodd and his brother Bernice Fleming and his four step-daughters; Jo Ann Kitchens, Cathy Dennis, Carolyn Seidband and Joan Weil. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Michael Scott Seidband and Steven Tyler Seidband and Sydney Fugich and Joseph Fugich and one great-grand daughter Shay Seidband.

A Visitation will be held at Nebo Methodist Church in Vernon Alabama on Tuesday August 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the service will follow thereafter with Reverend Terry McAdams. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Any Memorials may be made to Nebo Methodist Church in Vernon, Alabama.
