Philip Hamlett

PHILIP HAMLETT - Philip Merle Hamlett, age 76, of Ethelsville, AL, passed away October 16, 2026, at his residence.  Funeral services will be Monday, October 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Westmoreland officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Forest Cemetery of Ethelsville, AL, with military honors.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.

     Mr. Hamlett was born February 19, 1950, in Maulden, MO, to the late Rev. Roy and Mable Maxine Long Hamlett.  He was a graduate of South Pemiscott High School of Steele, MO, and a graduate of Southern Baptist College of Walnut Ridge, AR.  He served in the United States Air Force and was a self employed contractor for many years.  Mr. Hamlett was a Baptist and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

     Survivors include his son, Sam Hamlett of Ethelsville, AL, daughter, Tracey Agerton and her Paul of Ethelsville, AL, grandchildren, Grace Strickland and her husband Austin of Columbus, MS, and Abby Agerton of Florence, AL, great granddaughter, Amelia Jane Strickland of Columbus, MS, and life long friend, Dr. Isaac McKay of Columbia, MO.

     Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Hall, Paul Cruthirds, Anthony Chain, and Dale Smith.  Memorials may be made to the Columbus Lowndes Humane Society, 50 Airline Rd., Columbus, MS, 39702.
