Martha Forrest Watson Wood was born in Humboldt, TN, on February 13, 1915.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday February 9, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. At Friendship Cemetery.
She attended Columbus public schools and MS State College for Women (now MUW) where she studied piano. She was married to Joseph Levert Wood and had one daughter, Julie Ann Carver Wood, both of whom are deceased. She lived in Greenville, MS, for 13 years and moved back to Columbus where she worked at Ruth’s Shops Inc. for 35 years. She moved to Southlake, TX, in 1993 with her sister, Clarissa Land. She was a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Irving, TX. She is survived by one grandson, John Thurston Carver of Tucson, AZ, two nephews, Kenneth Watson Land of Southlake, TX, and Edwin Harris Land of New Orleans, LA, one great nephew, Derek Joseph Land of Haslet, TX, two great nieces, Sarafia Clarissa Walz of Colorado Springs, CO and Devon Marissa Land of Southlake, TX, and two great great nephews, Gabriel Joseph Lee Walz of Colorado Springs, CO and Deluca Jay Land of Haslet, TX.
