She was preceded in death by her parents, the late David Monroe and Miriam White Aldredge and by her husband, Charlie Dale Shepherd, son, Dale Monroe Shepherd, and sister, Mattie Anne Smet. Survivors include her sons, David Shepherd (Vickie) of Newnan, GA, Donnie Shepherd (Jill) of Frisco, TX, and Dean Shepherd (Kelly) of Kenner, LA, daughters, Mary Jane Brown (Frank) of Columbus, MS, Sharon Peebles (Bob) of Newnan, GA, Wanda Shepherd (Andy) of Columbus, MS, and daughter-in-law, Vicki Shepherd of Columbus, MS, and numerous grandchildren and great -grandchildren.

Margie was born February 2, 1933, in Moline, IL. She was a graduate of Moline High School and worked for a number of years as a secretary at John Deere in Moline. Mrs. Shepherd was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. Born into a musical family, Margie enjoyed a lifelong love of music. Gifted with a beautiful voice, she loved to sing of her great love for her Lord in the church choir. She enjoyed playing the piano and her love of music has been passed on to many of her children and grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved baseball and watching all her children play ball at Propst Park each summer. She was a valuable asset to Charlie in running his painting contracting business and retained her curiosity and hunger for knowledge throughout her life. She retained deep love for her childhood home in Moline and enjoyed her trips back there to take care of her mother, reminiscing of her time at the family camp on Rock River, and reconnecting with childhood friends and relatives. Her love for her family, her ”babies”, brought her the greatest joy! She had a selfless manner of sharing God’s love to anyone she met. Her children rise up and call her blessed!

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Jean Sanders, Kayla Burnett of Gentiva Home Hospice, her Chaplain Adam Garner and all of her loving caregivers.

Pallbearers will be Matt Brown, Drew Brown, Matt Stone, Aidan Fletcher, Tanner Jenkins and Kurt Shepherd.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 295 Dowdle Dr., Columbus, MS, 39702.
