Lynda Peeples Smith, age 79, of Mayhew, MS, passed away September 2, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Mayhew, MS. A memorial service will be held September 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in West Point, MS with Rev. Andy Parish officiating.

Lynda was born May 5, 1947, in Sunflower County, MS, to the late David Paul and Edna Kelly Peeples. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Kelly (Jean) Peeples of Savanah, Georgia. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Lynda leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Lynda is survived by her daughter, Angie (Shelby) Tidwell of Mayhew, Mississippi; her son, Michael (Keri) Smith of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren, Connor (Katie) Tidwell of West Point, MS, Carson Tidwell, Cayla Tidwell, and Cailyn Tidwell all of Mayhew, MS, Anna Smith of Oxford, MS, Justin (Emily) Smith of Etta, MS, and Hunter (Lexi) Smith of Pontotoc, MS; four great-grandchildren; her siblings, David (Elizabeth) Peeples of Pasadena, TX, and Pat (Johnny) Murphy of Walls, MS; as well as many relatives and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
