LEYTON PHILLIPS

Thomas Leyton Phillips, Jr, 61, died Sunday October 11, 2026 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus.

A memorial service will be held Friday October 16, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Leyton was born May 5, 1965 in Columbus, MS, to Thomas Leyton (Bud) Phillips (Joy), and Lucille Andries (Lucy) Phillips. He was a 1985 graduate of Lee High School and attended Mississippi State University. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was formerly employed with Superior Asphalt, Yates Construction, and The Gourmet Turtle Restaurant. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Douglass Phillips and his life partner, Melissa Burgoynne.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sons, Parker Phillips, (Emmalee), of

Cincinnati, Ohio, Thomas Madison Phillips, and John Allen Phillips of Columbus, sister

Lisa Phillips Kerby (Allen), step brother Brian James (Summer), grandchildren Elliott

and Douglas Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio, nieces Dr. Mary Douglass Kerby, Auburn,

Alabama, Dr. Allie Kerby, Jackson, Mississippi, Rayne Jourdan (J.R.), Birmingham,

Alabama, and Maris James, Columbus, Mississippi.
