Lena Cook

LENA COOK - Lena Oliver Cook, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away August 22, 2026, at her residence.  Graveside services will be Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Shaeffer's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Bray officiating.  Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Cook was born October 30, 1939, in Webster County, MS, to the late Thomas Hester and Lena Morris Oliver.  She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and attended Mississippi University for Women.  Mrs. Cook worked as a secretary for many years at O. C. Electric and also worked as a stocker for Lowes for a number of years.  She was a member of Shaeffer's Chapel Global Methodist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Oliver.

     Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Joseph Seaborn Cook of Columbus, MS, son, Rusty Cook and his wife Donna of Columbus, MS, daughter, Amanda Cook Hall and her husband John of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Joe Cook, Erica Jenkins, Nikki "Nicole" Harris, Micayla Hall, Tara Langdon, and Lacy Westbrook, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.  

     Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cook, Brandon Hayden, Jesse Jenkins, Tyler Harris, Joe Cook, and Kevin Wilson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Bardwell, Jackie Triplett, Danny Brown, Chuck Younger, Ralph Stewart, and Dr. Gerry Jeffcoat.  

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
