LARRY CARNEY

Retired TSGT Larry Thomas “Catfish” Carney, Sr., age 77, of Columbus, MS, passed away April 23, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East of Memphis, TN. A remembrance service for family and friends will be held at a later date.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 716 2 nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carney was born September 28, 1942, in Belleville, KS, to the late John Lloyd and Lillian Pressnall Carney.  He was a veteran of Vietnam and retired as a TSGT from the United States Air Force.  Mr. Carney enjoyed catfishing, camping, hunting, and archery.  He loved the Cowboys and was a big Elvis fan.

Survivors include his sons, Larry Thomas Carney, II, of Vernon, AL, and Mark Carney of Granbury, TX, daughter, Frances Carney of Caledonia, MS, mother of his children, Nancy Carney of Vernon, AL, sisters, Sandra Carney of Klamath, OR, and Donna Elam of Klamath, OR, lifelong friend, Jim Carrnell and his wife Gail of Paul’s Valley, OK, longtime friend, Terry Lewis of Caledonia,  9 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959 .

The family would like to express their appreciation for the nurses and staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital East for their love and care.
