John Franklin Prince, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away May 16, 2025, at Windsor Place. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Cuthbertson officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at First Baptist Church. Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Prince was born May 6, 1939, in Electric Mills, MS, to the late Francis Marion and Dee Robison Prince. He grew up in Shuqualak, MS, and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1962 with an accounting degree. Mr. Prince moved to Columbus in 1964, and received his CPA license and worked for the Mississippi State Tax Commission until 1971. He then joined T. E. Lott & Company, CPA's, and worked there until his retirement in 2014. He was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed playing golf and was an avid follower of Mississippi State sports.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Anderson Prince of Columbus, MS, son, John Michael Prince and his wife Currie of Columbus, MS, daughter, Carol Ann Sallis of Brandon, MS, sister, Marion Ogletree of Macon, MS, grandchildren, Mary Morgan Surrett and her husband Eric, Calloway Prince, Carson Ashton and her husband Alex, Anna Prince, Olivia Sallis, and Ann Elise Sallis, and great grandchildren, Sutton Surrett and Paisley Prince.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
