Elizabeth Jane Eubanks Ables-Gladu, 80, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at her residence in Columbus, MS. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Tabernacle Church in Ethelsville, AL Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born in McCool, MS on June 29,1943, to the late Willie Austin Eubanks and Ida Made Wade Eubanks.
She attended Ethel High School in Ethel, MS.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Gladu, Daughter Tammy Jo O’Kelley, grandson Chekota O’Kelley, brother Jerry Eubanks and sister Marie Goss.
She was a long-time member of Tabernacle Church, Ethelsville, Al.
She devoted 19+ years of her life to caring for children. She owned two day care centers, Kiddie Korral and Eastwood Hills Daycare and Pool. She was an avid traveler, who loved working flea markets in the Smokey Mountains. She loved being outdoors and soaking up the sun, and even spent several years living in Florida.
She is survived by her ex-husband and special friend Joe Ables, Sr.; son Joe Ables, Jr.; daughter Daneen (Jeff) Carroll all of Columbus, MS; son in law Mike O’Kelley of Hartshorne, OK; grandchildren Todd (Kristi)Ables, Dustin Carroll, Nikki (Jamie)Pickard, Nicole (Mitch)Barrentine, Shana (Daniel) Arnold, and Hunter (Magen) Carroll; great-grandchildren, Libby, Sam, Caleb, Shaylin, Dax, Ashlee, Brister, Blake, Oakley and Hunter Rose.
Honorary pallbearers will be all the children she loved as her own.
