Helen Virginia Adams Garrard

Helen Virginia Adams Garrard, age 91, died Saturday August 31, 2024 at Windsor Place Nursing & Rehab Center. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 9:00 am at Memorial Gardens in Columbus.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.

Helen was born on January 3, 1933 to the late Monroe and Emma Adams.  She was a long time member of First Assembly of God in Columbus. She was a self-taught mandolin player and often played the mandolin for her church.  She enjoyed gardening, fishing on the pontoon boat, camping, and her chihuahua, baby Girl.  She and her husband, Homer, loved gospel quartet music, specifically, the Gaither Vocal Band.  Helen had an undeniable love for the Lord and spread the love of Christ to everyone she encountered.

In addition to her husband, Homer Garrard, she was preceded in death by her sons, Donnie and Joe Garrard; daughter, Kim Hitchcock; grandson, Jason Hitchcock; and sister Bonnie Dee Ray.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry and Toby Garrard; grandchildren, Robbie Garrard (Jenn), Chris Garrard (Lara), Janie Skelton (Lance), Sylvia Wedel, Rodney Garrard, Blaine Garrard (Michelle), Paxton Garrard, and Brittany McCool (Jason); and great grandchildren, Lanie Skelton, Aubrey Wedel, Aidan Wedel, Addisyn Wedel, Avery Jack Wedel, Travis Garrard, Ruby Garrard, Sophie Garrard, Pheobe Garrard, Brodie Strickland, Dean McCool, and Cleo Garrard.
