Gordy was well known throughout the community for his expertise in vehicle repair and his many years of involvement in dirt track racing, where he not only raced but also built and repaired race cars for many drivers. He also devoted countless hours to coaching youth soccer and baseball at Propst Park, positively impacting generations of young athletes. Gordy also enjoyed playing the banjo and performed with a bluegrass band for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nona Tylenda; and his niece, Pam Koenigsberger. He is survived by his beloved wife, Wynell Ezell Koenigsberger; his son, Blake Koenigsberger (Shae); his grandson, Kole Koenigsberger; his sisters-in-law, Imogene Lawrence and Dessie Lawrence; his nephews, Mitchell (Lisa) Lawrence, Steve (Pat) Lawrence, Michael (Margaret) Lawrence, Martin (Angie) Lawrence, and Jay (Lisa) Lawrence; his niece, Angela (Sammy) Fondren; his great-nephew, Casey (Christine) Fondren and their children, Braxton, Sadie, and Evie Fondren; his great-niece, Ana (Tanner) Dement; and a host of extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 12th at 3 pm at Steens Church of Christ, with Pete Bowen and Tim Gentle officiating.
