Eddie Mauck

Edwin (Eddie, Papa) Clanton Mauck of Columbus passed away peacefully at his residence on January 6, 2026.

Eddie was born in Breeze, Illinois to Paul Ellsworth and Sally Bradford Mauck on June 23, 1949. He moved to Columbus at the age of five. Eddie graduated from S.D. Lee High School and Mississippi State University with a B.S. in banking and finance. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he had served as an usher. Eddie began his insurance career with the McCarty Insurance Agency in Columbus. His career took him to Wortman and Mann in Jackson, MS before becoming partner and then owner of Hopkins Insurance Agency in Columbus. Eddie received various insurance awards and recognition during his forty seven year insurance career and was in the first Certified Insurance Counselor graduating class in Mississippi. He was past president of the Northeast Mississippi Independent Agents in Mississippi. As a franchise owner of National Car Rental he had served on the Policy Advisory Board. He was a past president of the Columbus Rotary Club. Eddie was a proud member of the Board of Directors for Bankfirst Financial Services.

Eddie, a simple and soft hearted person, found relaxation with family activities, traveling, sport car races and tinkering on cars and around his home.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. (Jack) and Lillian D. Tubb; and brothers-in-law, Clifton Miller, Robert Borden and Hank Jolly.

He is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Janice, his son Brad and daughter Amanda (Chad) Tubbs; grandchildren Winston Mauck, Jameson Mauck, Lillian (Ellie) Tubbs, Nash Tubbs and Wyatt Tubbs; sisters, Marchita Mauck and Paula Miller; sisters-in-law Delane Jolly and Jackie Borden; numerous nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his cancer team at Mayo Clinic, Baptist Hospice in Columbus, especially Dallas and Stormy and caregivers Cherokee and Tiffany.

Visitation will be Monday January 12, 2026 at 12:30pm at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Columbus, MS. Funeral will follow at 2pm. Burial will be  at Friendship Cemetery following the funeral.
