Charles Pitts

CHARLES PITTS - Charles Marion Pitts, age 80, of Columbus, MS, passed away June 29, 2025, at the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL.  Funeral services will be Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Wes Jones officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Community Baptist Church.  Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. 

     Mr. Pitts was born November 26, 1944, in Pontotoc, MS, to the late Darwin and Sybolene Brown Pitts.  He was a veteran of Vietnam and retired from the United State Marines.  He was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Marine Corp Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and many other medals and ribbons during his service.  Mr. Pitts served all around the world during his career and had a love and passion for the Marines and serving his country.  He was a member of the Community Baptist Church and had a love for animals.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin Pitts, and Dwayne Pitts, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Pitts.

     Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Sanchez of Nashville, TN, and Cynthia Pitts-Keutzer of MO, sister, Cara Fay Vaughan (Tom Parson) of Moody, AL, sister-in-law, Linda Sue Pitts of Steens, MS, like a daughter, Ann Hatcher (Allen) of Columbus, MS, and her children and grandchildren that called him "Paw Paw,"  Derick Hatcher, Andy Hatcher (Harley), Ashley Childers (Brent), Madison Hatcher, Amelia Hatcher, Carter Hatcher, Gabby Childers, and Madelyn Childers.

     Pallbearers will be Phillip McDaniel, Brent Childers, Andy Hatcher, David Lowery, Bradley Williams, and Derick Hatcher.
