Allene Swoope

ALLENE SWOOPE - Allene Kirby Swoope, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away January 10, 2026, at her residence.  A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.  Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Swoope was born October 3, 1939, in Vicksburg, MS, to the late Allen and Margrite Ratliff Kirby.  She was a graduate of Rolling Fork High School and attended Holmes Junior College and Mississippi State University.  Mrs. Swoope worked as an interior decorator and store manager for Sherwin Williams in Winona, Kosciusko, and Louisville, MS, and also BPI of Jackson, MS.  She was a member of the West Point Presbyterian Church EPA where she served as Director of Youth Activities, Chairman of Children's Sunday School, and gave the children's message on Sundays.

     Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Thomas "Dake" Swoope of Columbus, MS, daughters, Debra McVey of Columbus, MS, and Teresa Narmour of Pisgah, MS, sister, Margaret Ann Warnock and her husband Johnny of Gainsville, GA, grandchildren, Phillip Hankins and his wife Rebekah of Brandon, MS, and Olivia Burgett of Pisgah, MS, and great grandchildren, Emerson Burgett and Everly Hankins.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS, 39213.
