Abbey McDaniel

Abigail "Abbey" Mei McDaniel, 20, passed away March 29, 2026, in Tupelo, MS. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 2:30 pm at East End Baptist Church with Bro. Taylor Chisolm officiating and Bro. Byron Benson assisting. Visitation will take place from 1:00pm until service time at the church. Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. 

Abbey was born on February 18, 2006, in Bachi Town, China. She is the daughter of Tonya and Russ McDaniel, and sister to Matt (Mackenzie) and Greg McDaniel. She is a 2023 graduate of Caledonia High School and went on to attend East Mississippi Community college and The W. She was a member of East End Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time in the Lowndes County 4H Archer program. She was passionate about the Columbus Karate Association, where she earned her 2nd degree black belt from Grand Master Dennis McCown. 

She was born with a cleft lip and palate and endured many surgical procedures at University of Mississippi Medical Center. The family is especially grateful to Glenda Phillips, Kara Gibson, Dr. Hoppe, and Dr. Vadahni for the care they provided to Abbey over the years. 

In additions to her parents and brothers, she is survived by her grandparents, Annette McDaniel, and Cecil and Janice Pittman; as well as many uncles, cousins, and friends. She is also survived by her beloved puppy dog named Dodge.

In her final days, Abbey was blessed to be loved and cared for by nurses Kimberly Sutton, Meagan Knight, and Tori Bridges at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
