CHRISTINE BARKSDALE - Christine Sprouse Barksdale, age 90, of Columbus, MS, passed away February 29, 2012, at Aurora Health & Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 10:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Jearl Hunley officiating and Rev. Ted Bane assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Beersheba Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, March 3, 2012, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Barksdale was born September 21, 1921, in Millport, AL, to the late W. J. and Ada Pearl Stanford Sprouse. She was a long time member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Barksdale was a resident of Aurora Health & Rehabilitation and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Frank Barksdale, brother, Jack Sprouse, and sisiter-in-law, Laurice Sprouse. Pallbearers will be Elders of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 2698 Ridge Road, Columbus, MS, 39705.
