NELMON L. WAKEFIELD

Nelmon L. Wakefield age 84 died Monday, April 18, 2016 at Aurora Health & Rehabilitation in Columbus . Services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating. Burial will follow at Egger Cemetery . Visitation will be held Wednesday April 20, 2016 from 6:00 PM til 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Wakefield was born on Monday, August 24, 1931 in Monroe County , MS to the late Jessie E. and Jeannie Latham Wakefield. He was associated with the Assembly of God Church, and a retired employee of United Technologies. He loved to fish, hunt, and camp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Nelmon Ray “Buddy” Wakefield , his sister Ozell Smith, his brothers, William A. Wakefield, Clarence Wakefield, Leonard Wakefield, Leon Wakefield, and his grandson, Michael Ray “Mike” Fortner.
