Karen Conn

Karen Wise Conn died September 14, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle. Karen was born on January 22, 1948, in Natchez , Mississippi , the daughter of Louis Carey and Lesby Mitchell Wise.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by a daughter who died at birth in 1973. She is survived by her husband, Barney Conn of Columbus; son, Barney Russell and wife, Angelle Conn of Steens, Mississippi; grandson, Jacob Bailey of Steens; brothers Michael Wise and wife, Barbara of Salem, Virginia and Mitchell Wise and wife, Roslyn, of Madison, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews; extended family and beloved dogs Dixie and Diego.

Services will be on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home with the Reverend Melvin Mordecai and Pastor Steve Lammons officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery . Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm – 7:00pm  at Gunter & Peel. Pallbearers will be  Jeff Conn, Kevin Conn, Stuart Conn, Jimmy Ray Fortner, Shane Glasgo, and Eddie Shaw; honorary pallbearer will be  David Mitchell. Makenzie Conn will sing.

Karen was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church , Ethelsville , Alabama .

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff on the third floor of Baptist Memorial Hospital .
