Alicia B. James, age 82, of Columbus, MS,, formerly of Monterrey, Mexico, passed away September 18, 2016, at Hospital San Vicente in Monterrey. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 , at 11:00 AM at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Rowland officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday , from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. James was born September 27, 1933, in Monterrey, Mexico, to the late Demetrio and Augustina Sanchez Perez Balderas. In 1964, she and her late husband, Woodrow Wilson James, opened the Mexican Kitchen. She owned and operated the Mexican Kitchen for many years where she loved and enjoyed her employees and customers. Mrs. James also enjoyed working as a seamstress. She was a member of the former Central United Methodist Church, then belonged to Wesley United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepsons, John James and Williams James, brother, Roberto Balderas, and sister, Nelly Balderas. Survivors include her son, Rodger " Taco" James and his wife Jane of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Taylor James and Kirby James, both of Columbus, MS, step son, Bobby James and his wife Wanda of Corpus Christi, TX, step daughter, Sandy Drake of NV, brother, Alejandro Balderas of Monterrey, Mexico, sister, Mercedes Cantu of Monterrey, Mexico, and half brother, Carlos Rosales of Columbus, MS. Pallbearers will be Don West, Ed Lott, Russell Brown, Mark Ward, Mert Campbell, and Dodie Colvin. Honorary Pallbearers will be all the loved employees, customers, and friends of the Mexican Kitchen and family. Memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children, P.O.
